Cortland Opens Chicago Office; Adds New Channel Alliance Partnership Program. Continues Rapid International Growth.
Cortland Advisors, LLC, an international Mergers & Acquisitions consulting firm headquartered in Orlando, FL, announced today it has added two new senior executives to its international team. It also announced a new Channel Alliance Partnership program with over 15 partners around the world.
The new executives joining the firm are:
- Anthony Canonaco, Chicago/Midwest General Manager. Canonaco, who holds several SEC licenses for financial management including Series 7, 62 63, is a CPA with a thriving financial consulting and tax practice in Chicago. Cananaco specializes in serving small-to-mid-sized clients in the Midwestern United States. He will oversee Cortland Operations throughout the Midwest including Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and Kansas. Chicago becomes Cortland’s fifth U.S. city, joining Washington, Orlando, Atlanta and Dallas.
- Max Coppersmith, Director of Worldwide Channel Operations. Max will oversee the Protiviti relationship around the world. Coppersmith brings over 10 years of channel marketing management to Cortland. He previously has worked in both Telecomm and Software partner relations. Max will be based out of the company’s Washington, DC office. He will also work closely with the company’s global partners in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Canonaco will report to CEO Randy Coppersmith and Max Coppersmith will report to COO David Reader. Canonaco’s sales and account management skills will initially be utilized to support clients in the Midwest. Max will focus on building an indirect sales channel.
“These two personnel announcements — Canonaco and Max — make Cortland a stronger, better company,” said Randy Coppersmith, who joined the firm in 2017.
“I’m delighted Tony Canonaco has decided to join us. Not only does he bring a wealth of experience to our Chicago office, but he also has FINRA and SEC certifications. It is our intent to utilize these licenses as we move to broaden our offerings for clients. Tony will play a key part in that development for Cortland,” said Randy Coppersmith.
Strong International Ties
Max Coppersmith, who has experience working with international financial investors and Private Equity companies in markets including America, Western Europe and Scandinavia, will support Cortland’s growing Channel Alliance Group. Currently, over 15 companies work with Cortland, including law firms, accounting firms, personal financial investment advisors, valuation experts, insurance providers and research firms. Among this network of Channel Partners and advisors is Cortland’s strategic partner in Asia, Dhyana Partners, LTD., of Mumbai, India.
“Our Channel Partners are an important resource for us,” said Coppersmith. “We work closely with them to develop new business, provide ancillary services, and ensure our customers are getting world-class advice across the financial services spectrum. Given the regional growth of Cortland, I expect to double or triple the number of international investors we work with over the next two years.”
Ken Taormina, Cortland’s Founder and President of its International Group, also said he was happy with the announcements today. “Both Tony and Max are experienced, proven executives. We are fortunate to have them on the team. I intend to work closely with Max in Asia, in Europe, in Africa, as well as the United States. I am delighted to have the chance to work closely with both these fine men.”
Taormina also said an announcement about Cortland’s European plans will be made shortly. “Now that Max and our channel program is in place, we need to complete several negotiations we’ve been having with three new Cortland Advisors in Western Europe. Stay tuned for further developments.”
