Jim Van Eperen
Jim Van Eperen, Certified Life Underwriter (CLU), has over 30 years’ experience as a financial planner and manager in the financial services industry.
Jim is an expert in Business Succession Planning, Estate and Legacy Planning and Executive Benefit Strategies. He has a proven track record of aggressively representing clients. He has been recognized for his holistic approach in helping to solve complex business planning needs within the context of personal financial goals. He has extensive experience in assisting clients who own family businesses or closely held entities as they work through the valuation and transfer of control and wealth. Jim’s passion is in getting to know each individual client and tailoring a custom solution that meets their personal needs and goals.
Previously, Jim served as the General Agent of The Washington Group of MassMutual Financial Group, overseeing a large financial services practice headquartered in Bethesda, MD, with numerous satellite offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The practice served 31,000 policyholders and clients, and more than $6.8 billion of life insurance coverage in force with 72 career agents and the 1,700 brokers affiliated with its sister organization, Mid-Atlantic Brokerage.
Prior to leading The Washington Group, Mr. Van Eperen was a registered representative for 13 years with New England Financial (NEF) in Boston, and served as sales manager for NEF’s Waukesha, Wisconsin agency before joining The Washington Group of MassMutual.
Professionally, Mr. Van Eperen is a board member of Washington, DC’s Board of Trade, and has been active in the Society of Financial Service Professionals – National Chapter, the General Agents and Managers Association (GAMA), Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), Accelerent / The Breakfast Club of Northern Virginia, and the Montgomery County and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chambers of Commerce.
Jim received his B.A. in Government and B.A. in Economics from Lawrence University in 1987. He is an avid Green Bay Packer fan and currently lives in Potomac, MD.
