Robert Hagan


Robert Hagan is a senior finance executive, mortgage banker and entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience. He has started and run two successful Mortgage businesses, and has helped in underwriting billions of dollars of mortgage transactions in his career.

Robert is knowledgeable in tax and financial analysis with a strong understanding of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Government underwriting, origination as well as back office guidelines and requirements. He plays a key role at Cortland in helping to develop client financial and marketing materials and due diligence packages. Robert is process- and detail-oriented and appreciates how thorough and well-structured documents can add value, and provide desired results, in a business transaction.

In addition to his role at Cortland, he is currently the President and CEO of Hagan Mortgage Associates, Inc. in Brandon, FL. He has been in the banking and residential mortgage industry in Florida for 40 years, the last 22, at his own firm. Prior to current operations Robert was a Partner and Principal Broker with Custom Financial Group, Inc., for six years.

Previously Robert was the Regional Production manager for Security First Federal, a small regional bank, where he quickly helped establish the bank among the top 30 lenders in Florida, and tops in the Tampa Bay area for 2 consecutive years, with sales over $124 million. While in this role he supervised and mentored a staff of 12, developed materials for the state, managed budgets and client relations.

He is a Life Director with the Builders Association of Greater Tampa and a past president of the Sales and Marketing Council. He is a Sigma Chi, and has been active with University of South Florida Chapter since its inception in 1979. He is also Vice Chairman of the Theta Beta Foundation, a non-profit scholarship organization at USF.

Robert has active licenses with the NMLS for the State of Florida. He holds a B.A. Behavioral Sciences/Political Science from The University of South Florida at Tampa.
